TALK TO TOMIX

Code Location: twilightedge

Intro: Hello Hero! Thank you for saving me from the ChaosWeaver Knight in there... he did not seem to want to listen to reason. The Weaver Queen has got them more enraged than I've ever seen! We are going to have to go deep into the heart of Ravenloss to discover what her reasons for this war are. I am glad you're with us!

[CHAOSWEAVERS] Yes, yes. Their history and culture is VASTLY interesting. I grew to know them very well during my adventures in Ravenloss. Did you know there are several species of ChaosWevers? SOME of them were once human... You'll meet them soon. Others, well... they have never been anything BUT beasts.

[ARACHNOMANCERS] But of course! EVERYONE should know Arachnomancy. It's a very useful skill if you are working with arachno-creatures. Riadne mentioned wanting to teach you. I do not think you are quite ready to learn SoulWeaving - MY type of magic - but perhaps one day... one day...

Then at 28 March 2014, you, Riadne and Tomix go deep down to Ravenloss city...

AQWorlds Wrath Of A Dark Queen - Codex Arachna

Weaver Magics
There are four main schools of Weaver magic, though only 3 are known to those outside the highest ranks: SoulWeaving, ChaosWeaving, SoulSmithing.

ChaosWeavers are much like SoulWeavers but, blinded by power and greed, weave with corrupted magics and tainted elemental spells. Objects or people touched by this magic become twisted, forever set apart from the rest of their kin and society.

SoulWeaving and SoulSmithing are pure art forms, relying on craft and skill. The objects created by these arts are unpararelled in quality and power.

Anti-ChaosWeaver Propaganda
The enemies we have defeated choose to mock us to restore their own sense of self-worth. They make up songs and stories to hide how we defeated them, twisting reality to feel better. Here is one example:

The itsy bitsy spiders ran up to knock you out
Down came your blade and loudly did you shout.
Out came its fangs and tried to have a taste.
But the itsy bitsy spider didn't know who he faced.

The itsy bitsy spider grew to ten feet tall
Down came the rain and made the spider fall
Rage filled its eyes and he fled fast for the plains...
And you can just imagine how much shame he felt then.

As you can see, this kind of anti-chaosweaver propaganda is just one more way the meat-creatures have of downplaying the power and might of the ChaosWeaver nation!

Weaver Origins
Once upon a time, there was a man named Tanislav. He lived in a small village called Mortem with his wife and child. His son, Roirr, suffered from a terrible illness, and did not have long to live. As time passed, Tanislav tried multiple methods to cure his son, but everything failed.

One day, Tanislav received word that a strange merchant wearing a shifting cloak made of night and stars, had arrived in the village.

When asked if he had anything to cure Tanislav's son, the merchant sold him an old scroll describing a forbidden ritual which would turn one's life essence into a magical elixir.

After years of fruitless attempts to save his son, Tanislav was desperate enough to perform the ritual... and to sacrifice his own wife to provide the material needed.

As he looked on in despair, Tanislav watched his son drink the potion... and weaken further. His wife's strength was not enough. Driven insane by his devotion to saving his son, Tanislav removed his son to a remote hut, then returned to the village.

Waiting until night fell, he drew the ritual circle around the entire town, and rocked back and forth as screams filled the darkness.

As the sun rose, he returned to find his son struggling to breath. He poured the liquid into the boy's mouth and stepped back, heart beating wildly. As he watched, color returned to Roirr's cheeks and his breathing steadied. His finger twitched.

Roirr opened his eyes and turned his head to look around the room. He slowly sat up and gazed at his father tiredly.

"M-mama? ... Papa? Where's Mama? Did she make soup today?"

Tanislav struggled not to cry out, turned and fled the cabin. He never returned.

Years later, stories about a man named Roirr, who called himself the First Weaver, began to spread. They talked of how he had harnessed the magic of a village of ghosts, and used them to create strange things - bright and deadly. He taught his children how to wield this strange magic, and they founded the four great schools based on his arts.

Weavers and Webs
ChaosWeavers did not always appear in an arachnid form. But Vaal, defiler of Judgement and destroyer of lives, wanted power, and would do ANYTHING to get it. He believed he deserved all he could take and more. He forced ChaosWeaver clerics to create an object, the Judgement Wheel, to grant himself his heart's desire. Unbeknownst to him, one of priests added a safety measure... which would grant any wish as long as it was deemed worthy. Those who did not wish wisely learned too late that you may indeed get what you asked for.

In return for his unworthy request, the Judgement Wheel condemned all those who practiced ChaosWeaving, infecting them with a disease that twisted their bones and shriveled their hearts.

ChaosWeaver War Tactics
Recruit, welcome to the ChaosWeaver army. Deception, brutality and sheer brute strength are all trademarks of ChaosWeaver battle. The webs you will weave as a Warrior of the ChaosWeaver will be your safety net. Do not laugh. You will shroud your opponent in them after victory... before you feed. Those who oppose you will run in fear from your many-eyed gaze. This will serve you well in battle. The meat-puppets who challenge us before could not surpass our skill. NO mortal creature limited to four limbs and two eyes can. Believe this, and you shall never fall.

Should you achieve the rank of an officer, remember this: Pity is for the weak. Mercy is for the weak. Alliance is for the weak, unless it is the only way you can achive your goal. And even then, make sure you are on equal footing with those around you. The ChaosWeaver nation serves no one!

Do not be fooled by pretty words and sparkling promises. Those are for the weak of heart and mind. Never forget the proud origins of our people. We are destined to rule ALL we survey... and none shall challenge that!

History of Ravenloss' Rulers
The ChaosWeavers in Ravenloss were, at first, a small group who resigned from nomadic life and settled down, underground, away from other ChaosWeavers. Overtime, their growing settlement turned into a village, then into a full grown city, and was named Ravenloss. Believing that a mother's influence on her children was one of society's most powerful weapons, the ChaosWeavers embraced matriarchy, and were ruled by a succession of powerful, beautiful and deadly Queens. Their sole aim in life is to guide their people, help them gro more prosperous and, most importantly, protect them all.

Fate and Saviors
Ancient text foretell of a dark time... a deadly time, when the ChaosWeavers will be all but slaves, powerfull but powerless. When the Mother, the Champion and the Destroyer meet on the field of battle, the end will be upon us. The Time of Blood and Magic will be at hand, and without the savior, all will be lost. Much of the text has been destroyed, but enough remains that for centuries, prophets and priests have warned each Queen to be on her guard. To watch, to wait and when the time comes... prepare for WAR!

Nature of Chaos
There are several ways to weave magic, initiate. The nature of ChaosWeaver power comes from the darkness that imbues all living creatures. We reach out to it, grasp it in our mental hands, and twist. Tug. Pull. Shape that darkness, that taint of mortality, into what we need. You must look for the darkness, the corruption, in all beings. Identify thei desires and you will find the key to manipulating them.

Once you have hooked your magic into that well of evil - all that is dark and wrong - you will have an almost unlimited source of power. Draw from it, siphon the evil energy off and it will increase your own power.

Greed. Lust. Hatred. Jealousy. Fear. Rage. Aggression. Arrogance. Despair. Madness. Vanity. All of those and more are the elements your spells will be woven from. Emotions like this give off a heightend sense of energy that will fuel your magic. You must maintain a distance from it, else you'll be consumed BY it. Be wary of the power you are attempting to control.

This is the weaving we pactice. This is the weaving that gives us power. This is the weaving that will secure our future.

Types of ChaosWeavers
Long, long ago, when the ChaosWeaver family and school were first formed, we were all human. I know, I know, young one. Do not be shocked. You are no more a meat-puppet than I am. But once, our people were. We wielded great magics and formed new cities where many came to learn our way of life.

Generations passed, and we grew more and more powerful. Until the day came when one of our number grew TOO great, and could not be stopped. Because of his folly, a terrible plague was visited upon many of us... they became the Arachna. We tried to live in harmony with those who were safe inside the protected walls of our sister-city, but soon the tension grew too great. The Arachna ChaosWeavers fought those who remained human. The civil war destroyed us... and saved us. With only Arachna left, except for our good Queen, the day of the ChaosWeaver Nation's rise to power was at hand!

ChaosWeaver Society
ChaosWeaver Society is made up of several castes. Peasants. Warriors. Priests. Rulers.

Peasants breed new defenders and priests. They produce food and goods for other ChaosWeavers. They raise children, care for the dying and bury the dead. They remain hidden most of the time, as they cannot defend themselves. They are always sent out of harm's way as soon as possible.

Warriors are the warriors and mages among us. They wield ChaosWeaver magic, or weapons made FROM ChaosWeaver magic. They defend the nation and protect our home. They attack when we are threatened and ensure the survival of our race. They are among Lore's fiercest and most powerful combatants. It is an honor for a young ChaosWeaver to be choosen as a Warrior.

Priests wield a special variant of ChaosWeaver magic. It allows them to tap into the spirit of creatures, and of the world itself! They commune with the Queen and with the ChaosWeaver gods. They ensure the stability and prosperity of the people, while Warriors see to the country itself.

Rulers... most ChaosWeavers will never meet the Queen, but she is the mother and leader of our people. Her daughter will be Queens themselves some day. The present Queen is an anomaly; she reigned before the civil war which almost broke our people. Her daughters are Arachna, like you and I. She is the last of the human ChaosWeavers and is doubly special because of it.

It is the duty of ALL ChaosWeavers to protect the Queen, no matter what it costs. Without her caste, the ChaosWeaver people cannot survive.

After you've managed to complete the Codex Arachna, you must continue to battle until the War Meter reach 100%.
